NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE's player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
There is only one game scheduled for tonight, which means the format is different. With FanDuel, you’ll be picking a Captain, who will give you 1.5x points, and four utility players with a budget of $55,000. DraftKings will have you pick a Captain worth 1.5x points and five flex players with a budget of $50,000. For Yahoo, you’ll be picking a Superstar worth 1.5x points and four flex players with a budget of $130. In other words, the terminology and budget changes from site-to-site, but the basic idea is the same throughout. It should also be noted that DraftKings and Yahoo allow you use goaltenders.
Mikko Rantanen (Colorado) - $15,500 (FanDuel), $15,000 (DraftKings), $34 (Yahoo)
Rantanen has been Colorado’s most consistent point producer, while being held off the scoresheet once in nine contests. He has four markers and eight assists during that span, including three goals and five points through five matches versus Vegas. Rantanen has lit the lamp twice on the power play, while adding one helper on the man advantage in the series.

Jonathan Marchessault (Vegas) - $13,500 (FanDuel), $11,700 (DraftKings), $22 (Yahoo)
Marchessault has been red hot in Round 2 with five goals and two assists during a five-game point streak. He only had one goal in seven matches against Minnesota in the opening round, but he has been piling up points versus Colorado. Marchessault has found the back of the net in each of the past three games, including a hat-trick performance in Game 4.
Alex Pietrangelo (Vegas) - $11,000 (FanDuel), $12,300 (DraftKings), $21 (Yahoo)
Pietrangelo has picked up an assist in each of the last three games, while generating 12 shots on goal. He was credited with seven shots on target in Game 5 on Tuesday. Pietrangelo also has seven hits and 13 blocks during his three-game point streak.
Brandon Saad (Colorado) - $9,500 (FanDuel), $7,500 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)
Saad has scored seven goals in nine postseason games. He has potted goals in each of the last two matches. Saad logged time alongside MacKinnon and Rantanen in Game 5, which would give him a boost on Thursday night if that combination remains intact. If it doesn’t then he still has some bang for the buck upside.
